We are excited to start this summer season of junior tennis. We have made some additions in the junior classes this year from the participation we received last season. We would also like to get as much pre-registration as possible to staff classes accordingly.

Junior programs will run 10 weeks, June 14th – August 20th. When questionable weather occurs, call the Legend at 968-9717 to find out exact information.

Junior State League
Wednesdays, 1-3:30 pm
Junior State League consists of 2 teams, one playing at home, and one playing at another area club. Eight juniors make up each team and play one set of singles and one set of doubles. Legend teams will be rotated each week to give everyone the opportunity to participate in this great event!

NEW FOR 2010!!! TUESDAY TENNIS AT BRISTLECONE!

We are excited to announce the addition of the following Junior Tennis Sessions that will be offered on Tuesdays at the Legend at Bristlecone tennis courts and are scheduled around our Junior Golf program.

We understand families are busy all year round, especially in the summer driving children from place to place. Why not spend more time at the Legend having fun and less time running around?!

The Junior Tennis sessions mentioned below all follow the USTA’s newest format in junior tennis training and include an agility/conditioning component, beneficial not just to tennis but to all sports your child plays.

SUMMER 2010 JUNIOR TENNIS ADDITIONS
June 22nd - August 20th
All sessions limited to 8 players (Me & Mommy or Daddy limited to 6 each with a parent); Classes will be held on Tuesdays at The Legend at Bristlecone Tennis Courts

Parents will have the opportunity to take tennis lessons with their little one(s) in “Me & Mommy/Daddy”!

TENNIS AT BRANDYBROOK
We are excited to continue our tennis programs at The Legend at Brandybrook!

Australian Open Players (1) and (2)
5-7 years old

(1) A specialized USPTA PeeWee program is used to advance motor skills for those children interested in learning to play tennis. Miniature nets and foam balls are used.

Mondays & Wednesdays 9-9:45 am

(2) This is a continuation of racquet control and building groundstrokes. Contact is consistent in this level. Starting to work on motion and contact simultaneously.

Mondays & Wednesdays 10-10:45 am



French Open Players

Child should be able to hit shots consistently over the net from mid court. At this level we introduce the full court with a low compression tennis ball. Working on good fundamentals for the foundations
of their ground strokes. Uncomfortable at net. Inconsistent serve.

Mondays & Wednesdays 11-12 pm, Thursdays 3:30-4:30 pm


Wimbledon Players

Child can hit baseline to baseline several times. Is able to rally short court with tennis balls. Improving volleys at the net. Working on good form for serve. Some point play and games will begin by serving.

Mondays & Wednesdays 12-1 pm; Thursdays 2:30-3:30 pm


US Open Players

Can rally baseline to baseline with a regular tennis ball. Starting to use proper technique and good positioning in play. Serves are consistent. Match play is necessary.

Mondays & Thursdays 1:30-2:30 pm


Grand Slam

Feel like putting in the extra time and working on high school and tournament levels skills? Then this is the class for you! Extra match play and practice times are necessary.

Mondays 2:30-3:30 pm; Thursdays 12:30-1:30


Junior Mix-up and Make-up Every Friday

French and Wimbledon from 1-2 pm. New this year is Junior State League practice every Friday afternoon from Noon-1 pm. Any Junior from the Grand Slam or U.S. Open levels is welcome to participate in this day of extra practice and matches at no charge! Join Manolito and your other tennis friends for a day of games and matches. This will serve as any make-ups due to weather or vacations.
